17 April 2021 –
It’s a sombre day in Australia, the UK and around the world as preparations are finalised for the formal farewell to His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, OM, GBE, AK, QSO, PC.
Prince Philip died, aged 99, last week and his funeral will be held overnight Canberra time.
He had a long association with cricket and the Lord’s Taverners, serving as the organisation’s 12th Man for many years.
As a mark of respect, flags across Canberra, including at Parliament House, were flown at half-mast today.
At Government House in Yarralumla, Lord’s Taverners ACT Secretary, Chris Hunter – on behalf of all Taverners in Australia – signed a condolence book.
The Lord’s Taverners ACT pays tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh for his contribution to the organisation, cricket/sport in general and public life.
