The Lord’s Taverners ACT has given a helping hand to Pegasus participant Millie, which has been recognised at the 2020 Pegasus Awards evening.

Lord’s Taverners ACT Treasurer, Mr Noel Smith MBE presented Millie with the Lord’s Taverners “Taverners Bill” Riding Development Scholarship at the event.

It was one of 15 awards which are designed to provide support for individuals with a disability to participate in a Pegasus program, which consists of one session a week for one year.

This is Millie’s second year of involvement with Pegasus. She enjoys the experience of horse-riding and is enthusiastic about her participation in the program.

The Lord’s Taverners contributed $2500 for the scholarship, which carries the name of the horse based at Pegasus that the Lord’s Taverners has previously supported, Taverners Bill.

Pegasus is a local charity which supports young people with a disability who aspire to develop their potential through horse-facilitated programs and activities.

Mr Smith said: “The Lord’s Taverners ACT and Pegasus have a common goal of supporting young people with a disability and assisting them in developing their capabilities.

“This is encapsulated in the Lord’s Taverners motto, ‘giving the young and disadvantaged a sporting chance’.”
